12 of our poor chickens were killed earlier this year, so the only appropriate thing to do was to pluck, gut and freeze them. Christmas was a slow cooked dinner of chicken in gravy with all the trimmings.

The birds are fairly old, known in the industry as ‘boilers’. We were 5 people here over Christmas, James, his partner, Magnus, Alice and Archie. John came down on his quad bike to deliver us biscuits and chocolate. And we took a beautiful boat ride to the standing stone. It was peaceful and joyous.
